Choosing a heating engineer you like and trust can be really difficult. With the vast amount of scammers we are constantly told about it’s only right you need to be cautious when it comes to this decision.
So how can you be sure you’ve made the right one?

How to find a trusted gas engineer in Medway:
- Make sure they are qualified and safe to work with Gas. There will be people telling you they’re competent, however in reality they should be nowhere near your boiler. So the best way to check this is to go to the Gas Safe register and double-check. You can either search the business name or you can ask the engineer for their ID number. The Gas Safe Register scheme is owned by the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) and exists to protect the public from unsafe gas work.
- Ask your friends for recommendations. Word of mouth is vital as you know the heating engineer has done a good job in the past. Just make sure you trust the people you’re asking!

What challenge did the customer face with their heating?
“Having had our Boiler for 19 years and calling out repair engineers from a well-known Gas Company these past few winters a new Boiler was needed.
Our system includes 19 Radiators over 3 floors.
I listened to the salesman from the same well-known gas company who had installed our boiler and did a so-called power flush a couple of years ago and at a great cost too; he told me that the existing gas supply pipe needed changing as regulations had changed.
Plus, the fact that our gas meter was at the front of the house and the boiler site at the back in the utility room, the only option was either run a new copper pipe gas supply on the outside of the house around the roof or dig up the ceramic tiles in the kitchen and downstairs bathroom.
As I listened exhausted and with the thought of this disruptive work, I never ever asked about costs I discounted his suggestions.
Anxiously I searched for other engineers;
Thankfully I found Ian Chambers; who is reliable, well-mannered, trustworthy and an exceptional engineer who works above and beyond the call of duty. With a great price too.”
How did Chambers Heating Solutions help?
“Ian came and assessed the situation. He agreed that new pipework was required but he was prepared to install it from the meter at the front, bore a hole into the brickwork, and in the corresponding downstairs bedroom if a small area of floorboards were up enough to get into.
He would then crawl through under the floor into the dining room and out back to the brickwork then bore a hole into the utility room, to house the new boiler and connect the new gas supply; this meant just a square of the floorboards in the bedroom and dining room needed taking up for him to get into, so he could crawl and feed the pipework through.
It was amazing and with very little disruption, and he even found a lucky horseshoe under the floorboards. Now hanging over our door.”
What happened on the day Chambers Heating Solutions came to complete the work?
“Once Ian arrived to commence the works he quickly found that the ‘so-called Power flush’ had not been done properly because he had never seen such slush, grim and gunk so it took him that day from 8 to 8 to power flush correctly.
He never complained, but I took photos and did contact the so-called reputable gas company to complain. Shocking.
During the works, Ian also found 2 leaky radiators and as he was finishing the job to leave, the overflow on the water tank commenced. It needed a new valve which although not in the job Ian quickly got one and replaced it for us without hesitation and at no cost. What service!”
